Beam Detectors (Reflective / Projected)

Smoke beam detectors project a beam of light across an area (or to a reflector), monitoring obstruction or light attenuation for smoke detection in large open spaces.

Beam detectors use projected light beams (infrared typically) or reflective configurations to monitor large open or high ceiling spaces, such as warehouses, atriums, aircraft hangars. The beam transmitter sends a light beam to a receiver or reflector; smoke passing between reduces light intensity (attenuation) which triggers alarm. Reflective (single device + reflector) or projected type (separate transmitter & receiver). Benefits: covers large area with fewer sensors, aesthetic minimalist look. Challenges include alignment, sensitivity to dust/dirt, environmental factors; require maintenance.

Category:

Beam Detectors are ideal for protecting large, open spaces where installing multiple spot detectors would be impractical. The system consists of a transmitter that projects an infrared light beam and a receiver that detects it. When smoke particles obstruct the beam, the receiver registers a loss of signal and triggers an alarm. Our offerings include:

  • Reflective: A single unit with a transmitter and receiver, using a reflector on the opposite wall.
  • Projected: Separate transmitter and receiver units installed on opposing walls.

Perfect for warehouses, atriums, sports arenas, and auditoriums, these detectors provide wide-area coverage with minimal equipment.
